Bird Aware rangers - Amy, Sarah and Ruth

As the winter bird migrants arrive on our shores so too do our three new seasonal rangers.

All our new team members join us with a wealth of knowledge from nature reserves around the country and overseas and they can’t wait to start sharing this with all of you out on the Solent coast.

Introducing Amy

I have moved to the Isle of Wight after spending the summer looking after breeding seabirds on the Farne Islands. I am super excited to discover the amazing species of waders and waterfowl that rest and feed on the Solent over the winter months!

Meet Sarah

I have just migrated south for the winter after monitoring seabirds and waders in Orkney with RSPB Scotland. Prior to that, I’ve been working with birds and seals on the Farne Islands, Mingulay and in Iceland. I’m originally from Hampshire, so I’m excited to spend the winter helping to protect overwintering birds and enthuse visitors where I grew up.

Say hi to Ruth

I’ve been working to help protect rare inland birds until recently. I’m very happy to now be joining Bird Aware Solent to help our coastal birds and I look forward to meeting and helping people along this beautiful stretch of coastline.

We are lucky to be able to add such a range of experience to the team and are really looking forward to working with Sarah, Ruth and Amy throughout the winter months. If you see any of the team out and about be sure to say hello and have a chat with them, they may even have a Bird Aware goody for you to take away!
