A paddle back in time for when you want to make a day of it
This route will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Start in the historic village of Buckler’s Hard and paddle past grand homes and pristine habitats. There is nowhere to stop in Beaulieu, so when you reach Beaulieu turn around and head back to Buckler’s Hard for a nibble or a drink at the café or pub.
This is a longer paddle that will take between 2 and 3 hours in one direction. Bring a pair of binoculars for fab birdwatching opportunities. You might even spot a white-tailed eagle.
You must pre-book and pay for a launch slot at Buckler’s hard. This will also entitle you to parking for the day. See further details listed under the Buckler’s Hard launch point on our Wildlife with Watersports map or the Beaulieu River Guide.
Conditions: A quiet river paddle. The slipway dries out 2 hours either side of low tide. Launching and landing elsewhere on the Beaulieu River is prohibited.
Time: 4 to 6 hours return trip.
