Ranger Lizzie’s guide to Emsworth
Join Ranger Lizzie as she walks from Emsworth Quay towards Nore Barn Woods, admiring the beautiful views across the harbour towards Langstone Bridge and Hayling Island.
How many birds feeding on the mudflats will she tick off her spotting list? By the end of the walk she’ll have spotted brent geese, oystercatcher, swans, cormorant, gulls, turnstone, black-tailed godwit, teal, a little egret, and a redshank. In the video you can just catch the sound of a curlew which echoes over the mudflats – always worth listening out for when you’re walking on the coast.
Ranger Lizzie gives some good advice about staying ‘Bird Aware’ if you’re walking a dog in the area and she also talks about Emsworth’s ever-changing landscape, its diverse wildlife, and why it makes it a special place for a waterside walk.
