The Bird Aware Solent Photography Competition
Terms and Conditions
- The deadline for entries to the Bird Aware Solent Photography Competition is Tuesday 31 March 2026. Submissions after 11.59pm on Tuesday 31 March will not be included.
- Entrants into the Junior category must be less than 18 years of age on 31 March 2026.
- Entrants must not be professional photographers. For the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.
- Entries must not involve extensive post-processing and any alterations that substantially distort factual representation of the subject, such as the use of AI-generated imagery, will not be accepted. Minor editing of images through software or traditional darkroom techniques is permitted.
- No more than two photographs can be entered into any category by each person who enters the competition. Photographs submitted should be no bigger than 10MB.
- Incomplete or late entries will not be accepted. Bird Aware Solent reserves the right to discount or disqualify any inappropriate or offensive entries or those where the rangers consider the photography might have resulted in wildlife disturbance.
- The competition is free to enter and there is no purchase necessary.
- The overall winner’s prize is £100 in vouchers of the winner’s choice. The winners of the remaining 3 categories will receive vouchers worth £75. A special prize will be awarded of £50 in vouchers to the best photograph in any category taken on a mobile phone.
- The overall winner and the winner of the Junior category will also both win a guided birdwatching walk with family and friends (with a limit of 15 people) from one of Bird Aware’s ranger team. The location of the birdwatching walks will be along the Solent coastline at a location agreed between each of the winners and the Bird Aware rangers. If the overall winner and the Junior category winner are the same person, only one guided birdwatching walk will be provided.
- The prizes are non-negotiable, non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-exchangeable and no cash alternative offered.
- The judges’ decisions will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- After the judges have reached their decision, a confirmation email with details of the prizes will be sent to the winners using the email address used to submit their entry.
- Except for the purpose of contacting the winners and runners-up, Bird Aware Solent will not use entrants’ personal data. Visit https://birdaware.org/solent/about-us/privacy-notice/ for our privacy notice.
- Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. Bird Aware Solent reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
- These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
