We welcome Lizzie to the team whilst Julie is away on maternity leave.
We have some exciting news… It’s not just our summer visiting migratory birds who are having chicks at this time of the year – our Ranger Julie is having a baby! This means we are welcoming Lizzie to the team, who will cover Julie’s maternity leave. We wish Julie all the best over the coming year, and thank her for all of her enthusiasm and hard work.
Lizzie is a recent Marine Biology graduate who carried out research in Little Terns – one of the Solent’s summer visitors – at university. Since graduating she has enjoyed working with school groups at Winchester Science Centre, but she desperately wanted to get back to focusing on the birds and swap the classroom for the coastline. She can’t wait to start patrolling her sites and inspire coastal users to be more Bird Aware.
Look out for Lizzie around the New Forest, Southampton Water and Isle of Wight coast this winter. She’d love to tell you about what we do and how you can help in protecting our overwintering birds. She’s also looking forward to meeting your pooches and having some muddy doggy cuddles!
