Ranger Julie’s monthly walk at Lepe Country Park
NOW FULLY BOOKED
Birdwatching for beginners – wonderful waders, glorious ducks, delightful geese
Join Ranger Julie for a leisurely walk around Lepe Country Park.
Please note – this event is part of the New Forest Walking and Cycling Festival 2022, which runs from 15 October to 6 November. As a result this walk is likely to be busier than usual so let Julie know if you would like to come: julie.sims@hants.gov.uk, 07874 793 392.
We will discover the often hidden world of overwintering waders, ducks and geese who must, not only survive winter here but, ensure they stock up on enough food to complete long migrations.
We will learn to identify these birds, talk about their ecology and migration and learn how we can help them thrive. Bring a pair of binoculars if you have them (some available to borrow).
This walk is intended for anyone who loves spending time on the coast. You do not need to know anything at all about birds.
The site can be very windy and feel colder than you expect. Dress warmly and bring rain gear if there is a chance of rain. Sturdy walking shoes are best.
Children welcome.
As highlighted above, please let Julie know if you would like to come as the group size will be limited to 18: email: julie.sims@hants.gov.uk, mobile: 07874 793 392.
How to find us:
Park in the Lepe Country Park lower car park, SO45 1AD (or upper car park if lower one is full). Meet in front of The Lookout Cafe. We will walk along the beach where the ground is uneven and there is the possibility of tripping hazards.
