New Forest Walking Festival – Ranger Julie’s walk at Normandy Lagoon
Join Ranger Julie for a leisurely walk around Lymington Keyhaven Nature Reserve. We will walk to Normandy Lagoon/Marsh, a fantastic place to spot coastal birds, where we will discover the often hidden world of overwintering waders, ducks and geese who must not only survive winter here but ensure they stock up on enough food to complete long migrations. We will learn to identify these birds, talk about their ecology and learn about how we can help them thrive.
This walk is intended for anyone who loves spending time on the coast: you do not need to know anything about birds. Children are welcome and there will be binoculars available to borrow.
Meeting place: In front of The Haven Bar and Restaurant (King’s Saltern Rd, Lymington, SO41 3QD)

Accessibility: The walk will be at a gentle pace, but we will be walking along a gravel seawall that is sometimes uneven in places.
Dogs: We welcome well behaved dogs on our walks but they must be kept on a short lead at all times.
Clothing: Please wear sturdy/sensible shoes and dress appropriately for the weather (we advise warm layers and a waterproof coat).
All our walks are free to attend but booking is required as the group size for this walk will be limited to 18.
