New Forest Awakening Festival – Guided birdwatching walk at Lymington-Keyhaven
Join our rangers to see what wildlife you can spot from the seawall of the Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve and help celebrate the New Forest Awakening Festival. This is a short, leisurely walk taking in some of the best scenery the Solent coast has to offer. There will be plenty of time to stop and admire the wonderful birds that can be seen around our coast over the winter. Our rangers will be on hand to guide and show you the different birds spotted along the walk.
The walk is aimed at those who are new to, or less-experienced at bird watching. Families and children are always welcome (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult). Bring binoculars if you have them but don’t worry if you don’t, you can enjoy views of the birds through the ranger’s telescopes.
We will walk past the lagoons and marshland of Keyhaven Marshes and the saltmarsh of the Solent coast. You may see lapwing, wigeon, curlew, teal, oystercatcher and cormorant and more.
Booking details: This walk is free to attend but booking is required as numbers are limited so please reserve your place by emailing Ranger Richie: email@example.com
Duration: The walk is around 2 miles in total and will take around 2 hours at a leisurely pace with regular stops to watch the wildlife.
Accessibility: This is an outdoor event in a public space. Whilst we will be following the footpath, some of it is uneven in places. Winter weather can also mean damp or muddy conditions so sensible footwear is required.
Dogs: We welcome well behaved dogs on our walks but they must be kept on a short lead at all times.
Clothing: Please wear sturdy/sensible shoes and dress appropriately for the weather (we advise warm layers and a waterproof coat).
