Time: 10:30 - 12:00

Location: Hayling Island Nature Reserve

Meet the Rangers – Hayling Island Nature Reserve

THIS WALK IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

Join the Bird Aware rangers for a guided walk around Hayling Island Nature Reserve.  This may be your last opportunity this season to see many of the waders as they’re preparing to leave the Solent for their breeding grounds in the some of the remotest parts of the world.  We’ll take every opportunity to stop and talk about the birds that we see during this gentle stroll, and whilst the walk is aimed at newcomers to bird watching, all are welcome.

Booking details: All our walks are free, but booking is required as places are limited, so please reserve your place by emailing Ranger Dawn:  dawn.thompson2@hants.gov.uk

Event Information

Meeting point and parking: Meet in the Hayling Billy Line Car Park, Havant Rd, Hayling Island, PO11 0LW (opposite Applegreen Petrol Station). Look for the rangers in their blue uniform. Link to location on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/pYtRWyGpxMKCAYnv5

Duration: The walk will last up to 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace with regular watching stops.

Accessibility: This is an outdoor event in a public space. The route is mostly gravel but some of the ground is uneven in places. There can also be some standing water (puddles) along the path and damp underfoot, therefore sensible footwear is essential.

Dogs: We welcome well behaved dogs on our walks but they must be kept on a short lead at all times.

Clothing: Please wear sturdy/sensible shoes and dress appropriately for the weather (we advise warm layers and a waterproof coat!).

Our outdoor walks and activities are weather dependant. We aim to let you know by email in good time if a walk is cancelled due to bad weather. Please check your emails before leaving home.
