Lepe Guided Birdwatching Walk

Join our friendly rangers to see what wildlife we can spot around Lepe Country Park.

The beach front is a fantastic place to spot coastal birds particularly waders, ducks and geese that arrive here for the winter months. We will spend some time in the hide overlooking Dark Water lagoon too.

We will learn to identify the coastal birds, talk about their ecology and learn about how we can help them thrive.

The walk is intended for anyone who loves spending time on the coast: you don’t need to know anything about birds.

Families and children are always welcome (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult).

Bring binoculars if you have them but don’t worry if you don’t, we can supply a few pairs for your use. You can also enjoy views of the birds through the rangers’ telescopes.

Some of the species we might see include dark-bellied brent geese, wigeon, dunlin, oystercatcher, black-tailed godwit, redshank, turnstone and greenshank.

All of our walks are free to attend, but booking is required as places are limited. (see below).

Event Information

Duration: The walk is around 1½ miles long in total and will last up to 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace with regular watching stops.
