Guided birdwatching walk and sketching workshop – FULLY BOOKED

Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to brush up on your sketching skills, art enthusiasts are invited to join us for a guided walk around Fishbourne, followed by a sketching workshop at Dell Quay Education Centre which will be led by local artist Leticia Silva dos Santos.

We’ll begin with a peaceful birdwatching walk led by Bird Aware Solent rangers to admire Fishbourne’s beautiful coastal scenery and wildlife, before heading back to the classroom where Leticia will take us through a step-by-step sketching session. Everyone will finish the workshop with their own sketch of a coastal bird to take home.

Leticia graduated from Bath Spa University in 2018 with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Arts Practice, and shortly after began working as an art tutor at the Victoria & Albert Museum in South Kensington. Now, Leticia teaches art in the South Downs, where she finds fresh inspiration in nature and natural forms.

Directions and meeting point: Leave the A27 at the Stockbridge Roundabout, taking the A286 towards the Witterings. After about 2 miles take a right hand turn to Dell Quay. The Education Centre and classroom is located on the left-hand side of the quay at the far end. We will meet outside the classroom.

Equipment: Leticia will supply all equipment needed for the sketching workshop.

Parking: Park on the roadside adjacent to the pub or along the road as there is no parking on the quay. Please do not park in the pub carpark.

Accessibility: Uneven ground.

Dogs: Unfortunately, this event is not suitable for dogs.

Clothing: Please ensure that you have sturdy/sensible shoes for the walk and dress appropriately for the weather (we advise warm layers and a waterproof coat).

Our outdoor activities are weather dependant. In the event of bad weather, we will skip the walk and go straight to the classroom where Bird Aware rangers Alice and Richie will share a short presentation showcasing the Solent’s birdlife. Leticia will then lead the sketching workshop.
