Cams Bay Guided Birdwatching Walk
The Great Coastal Birdwatch
Join our friendly rangers to see what wildlife we can spot around Cams Lake, Portsmouth.
This is a short and gentle walk with plenty of time to stop and enjoy the wonderful migrant birds that can be seen around this stretch of our coastline over the winter. Our rangers will be on hand to help you identify and learn about the birds spotted along the way.
The walk is aimed at those who are new to, or less experienced at bird watching. Families and children are always welcome (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult).
Bring binoculars if you have them but don’t worry if you don’t, we can supply several pairs for your use. You can also enjoy views of the birds through the rangers’ telescopes.
Some of the species we might see include dark-bellied brent geese, wigeon, dunlin, oystercatcher, black-tailed godwit, redshank, turnstone and greenshank.
All of our walks are free to attend, but booking is required as places are limited (see below).
Event Information
Duration: The walk is around 1½ miles in length and will last up to 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace with regular stops for watching the birds.
