Birdwatching walk around Lymington Keyhaven Nature Reserve

NOW FULLY BOOKED

Wonderful waders, glorious ducks, delightful geese

Join Ranger Julie from Bird Aware Solent on a leisurely walk around Lymington Keyhaven Nature Reserve

We will discover the often hidden world of overwintering waders, ducks and geese who must, not only survive winter here but, ensure they stock up on enough food to complete long migrations.

We will learn to identify these birds, talk about their ecology and migration, and learn how we can help them thrive. Bring a pair of binoculars if you have them (some available to borrow).

This walk is intended for anyone who loves spending time on the coast. You do not need to know anything at all about birds.

The site can be very windy and feel colder than you expect. Dress warmly and bring rain gear if there is a chance of rain. Sturdy walking shoes are best. We will be walking along a gravel seawall.

Children welcome.

Let Julie know if you would like to come – the group size will be limited to 18: email: julie.sims@hants.gov.uk, mobile: 07874 793 392.

How to find us:

Park in the Lymington Yacht Haven car park and meet in front of The Haven Bar and Restaurant (SO41 3QD). We will walk to Normandy Marsh/Lagoon, a fantastic place to spot coastal birds.

This event is part of the New Forest Walking and Cycling Festival 2022, which runs from 15 October to 6 November. Find more walking and cycling events here.
