Monitoring
A variety of information is being collected to monitor the effectiveness of the mitigation measures and the mitigation strategy as a whole.
Much of the data will be obtained from surveys of the number of visitors, their recreational activities, and the numbers of birds. These change relatively slowly, so the surveys will generally be done every two to three years. Staggering the surveys helps spread the cost.
Our Monitoring Plan gives more details. It is based on advice provided by consultants Footprint Ecology. The conclusions from each year’s data collection will be in our Annual Report.
