Monitoring and evaluation
We collect a wide range of information to assess how well our mitigation measures, and the overall strategy, are working.
Much of this data comes from surveys that record visitor numbers, the types of recreational activities taking place, and the numbers of birds present. Because these factors tend to change gradually, surveys are usually carried out every two to three years. Staggering the survey schedule also helps manage costs.
More detail can be found in our Monitoring Plan, which was developed with advice from Footprint Ecology. Each year’s findings are summarised in our Annual Reports.
As identified in our Revised Strategy, we are developing a new Monitoring & Evaluation Plan to support us in the next phase of the partnership. We expect to introduce this updated approach later in the year.
