Initial research
The original evidence base for Bird Aware Solent’s strategy was developed between 2009 and 2013. Since then, further studies have helped us decide on the best ways to reduce bird disturbance by dogs. Another key research project was the Alver Valley study which explored whether a nearby country park could offer a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) for recreation and help reduce pressure on the coast.
We use the findings from these research projects to guide our decisions. However, the Partnership does not necessarily endorse every aspect of each individual study.
Alongside this, we continue to carry out additional surveys as part of our ongoing monitoring programme.
