Coast and Country Canines launches Total Recall Challenge
12 January 2026
Calling all dog owners! Boost your dog’s recall skills this February with the Coast and Country Canines Total Recall Challenge.
This challenge is designed to help dog owners improve their dogs’ recall skills through a series of fun, effective games and activities, supported by easy-to-follow guides and videos. Best of all, it’s completely free to join.
Total Recall is for every owner – whether you have a playful puppy or an older dog (yes, they can learn new tricks!) – build confidence, strengthen your bond, and enjoy safer adventures together.
Shona Jenkins, Coast and Country Canines Project Lead said: “Our organisation is all about helping dog owners walk in a more wildlife-aware way, and recall is a huge part of that. Reliable recall is essential for keeping dogs, wildlife and other people safe, but it is also something a lot of people and dogs really struggle with. Total Recall lays out a clear, fun and effective guide to building a good recall and I’m really proud of the work the team has done putting it together. I’m excited to see people engage with it.”
The challenge has been developed by an accredited dog trainer and a canine behaviour expert, ensuring that welfare remains the highest priority.
Throughout February, Coast and Country Canines will host a series of recall-themed pop-up events across the Solent coast, giving dog owners the chance to meet the team, receive free advice, and collect a recall training pack. Dates and locations will be published on the Coast and Country Canines website (coastandcountrycanines.org/total-recall-challenge)
Coast and Country Canines is an initiative by Bird Aware Solent, and is dedicated to creating a community of dog walkers who enjoy safer, more wildlife-friendly walks.
