Bird Aware Art Fest is back this February

24 January 2025

This February, Bird Aware Solent is hosting its annual Art Fest, a month-long celebration of coastal birdlife and creativity.

The art festival is all about building connections with wildlife through arts and crafts. Its programme of free creative events in the Solent region will run throughout February, using the coastline’s birds and habitats as inspiration.

This year’s events include:

Mobile phone photography walk at East Head, West Sussex on 1 February

Coastal colouring pop-up at Eastleigh Library, Hampshire on 8 February

Inspirational walk and creative session at Dell Quay in Chichester on 9 February

Mobile phone photography walk at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight on 15 February

‘Digiscoping’ walk at Bunny Meadows, Warsash, Hampshire on 15 February

Get inspired to paint a bird-themed pebble at Milford on Sea on 18 February

Creative Coastal Birds at the Blue Reef Aquarium, Southsea on 18 February

Coastal creativity for kids at Dell Quay in Chichester on 19 February

Coastal creativity for kids at Lepe Country Park, Hampshire on 21 February

Everyone who takes part will learn about the migratory birds that spend the winter on the Solent coast, and will be encouraged to use the beauty of coastal birdlife as inspiration for a work of art.

Anyone interested can find out more and book a place by visiting the Bird Aware Solent’s events pages.

Alice Ashcroft-Dalley, Community Engagement Ranger for Bird Aware Solent, said: ‘After an outstanding Art Fest in 2024, the ranger team are excited to see what people paint, draw and create in this year. We are extremely lucky to have a stunning array of migratory birds visiting our shores every winter, and Art Fest is a wonderful opportunity to shine a spotlight on these special species.’
