Geese

The Essex coastline is very important for a number of Geese species, especially those that migrate 3000 miles to spend the winter months here and rely on our rich coastal habitats. A range of geese can be spotted resting and feeding on the Essex coast over the winter in addition to the Geese you may have already spotted on your local park pond.

Geese are typically distinguished from ducks by their longer necks. They can be seen (and heard!) in large flocks around our coastline using a vast range of habitats from beaches to farmers’ fields.
